NEW CLASSES

Three days until December already? The past few months have been busy.... even crazy and now they are over. September, I worked all month on our new upcoming classes as well as many new pieces of jewelry and 300 pairs of earrings for upcoming shows. Then October was on us, class planning was put on hold. I grabbed my beads, jewelry and luggage and headed to Dallas, Texas. I spent the month of October doing jewelry shows/craft fairs and home parties. Drove back to New Mexico in a U-haul (another story for another day) and jumped right into November. The first week of November we expanded into the second half of our store with new beads, more handmade jewelry and now a new line of other handmade gifts. The second week of November we packed up for, my favorite show, the annual Christmas Jubilee, held here in Ruidoso. The last couple of weeks had us putting the store back together, driving to the Albuquerque airport to send a friend back home,Thanksgiving, and some school activities. So without further ado, here is the new line of classes!!

“Bonsai Tree/Tree of Life Pendant”! - A Wire Jewelry Creation with Kelley Pounds $45
“Celebrate spring and summer by creating your own Bonsai Tree/Tree of Life Pendant. Using copper wire and a variety of chip beads, you will create your own one-of-a kind pendant. And just like real trees, it is guaranteed no two tree pendants will be exactly alike! Beads to Beauty will provide a variety of colored chip beads, and Kelley Pounds will provide the wire and step-by-step instructions, complete with pictures, in a handout you can take home for later use so you can create more pendants.”

“Cages and Cabochons” - with Kelley Pounds $45
“When you think of wire-wrap jewelry, chances are you envision wire cages and cabochons. In this lesson you will begin with the cage wrap of a freeform polished stone and progress to the more complicated wrapping of an oval cabochon. In the process you will also learn how to give these traditional wire wrapping techniques your own unique twist using bead embellishments. Materials include square practice wire, two freeform polished stones, and a 30 X 40 cabochon.”

“Three Ring Circus” - with Kelley Pounds $45
In this introductory class on wire ring making, learn how to construct three different types of rings: the hammer scroll ring (adjustable and non-adjustable types); the simple and classic Etruscan swirl ring; and the ever-popular one-bead ring, along with tips to make your own unique variations. Kelley will provide examples of rings that incorporate variations on these three techniques so that your eyes will be opened to the mystery of even more complicated wire ring construction. Wire and beads will be provided in this class.

“Kaleidoscope Cane Beads” - with Kelley Pounds $45
Polymer clay kaleidoscope beads are some of the prettiest of polymer clay beads, with complex designs that at first glance seem far too complicated for the beginner. But in this class the process will be de-mystified! You will learn how to create the simplest of polymer clay canes so that you can turn your humble polymer clay beads into mirror design masterpieces.

"Cosmic Canyon"

For those of you that have taken a class with us, there's a good chance you have had Kelley Pounds as your instructor. She is very talented and makes very beautiful wire wrapped and polymer clay pieces. Many of you love her work so it's no surprise that she won 2nd place in a Beading Daily contest! For any of her "followers" here is a little information about the contest.

Author/designer Ronna Sarvas Weltman and Jewelry Artist editor-in-chief Merle White chose the two winning pieces. The two winners will be featured on Beading Daily (circulation: 90,000) in late June.

Congratulations Kelley!

New Bead Store in Ruidoso, NM

We are finally open! I am very proud to share the fun I have daily, with my new bead store, Beads to Beauty. Some of you already know that I opened a handmade jewelry store mid October '08 in Ruidoso, NM but grew out of the small store rather quickly. So, thankfully February offered new beginnings. I am now located inside The Four Seasons Mall at 2500 Sudderth #3, Ruidoso, NM 88345. We offer handmade jewelry to go or while you wait, if you want to design your own. We have a wide selection of beads and we get in new inventory weekly! Starting March 2009 we will offer classes for adults and seperate classes for kids. We also offer bead parties so girls can get together for a day or night out! If you are interested in our parties, classes or if you have any other questions, please email me at h.kingmsore@gmail.com
